According to data from the Associação Brasileira da Indústria Têxtil e de Confecção (Abit), the textile sector recorded 4% growth in 2024 compared to 2023, while apparel grew by 3.8%.
In 2024, imports of textile and apparel products increased by 20.8%, while exports experienced a decrease of 3.8%, resulting in a trade deficit. Most of the imports came from China, posing challenges for the competitiveness of the domestic industry.
Expectations for 2025 are optimistic. A survey conducted by Abit indicates that 45% of businessmen foresee a moderate growth of the domestic market, between 2.1% and 4%. In addition, 8% anticipate a significant increase in exports.
In terms of investments, 42% of the companies plan to make moderate investments, focusing on machinery, technology and automation, while 31% are looking to expand their production capacity.
